Carers Passport

The Carers Passport is a scheme enabling carers to be recognised for their caring role. It highlights the important role that a carer plays and the wealth of knowledge they have about the person they care for, encouraging health and care professionals to utilize this knowledge. The Carers Passport also gives carers access to support, services, and other benefits.

Building a Carer Friendly North Lincolnshire

In May 2023, North Lincolnshire Council's Carer Strategy Partners took a system-wide approach to improving the identification and recognition of Carers in North Lincolnshire. This was initiated through the “Carer Friendly North Lincolnshire” campaign which delivered a wide communications campaign to raise awareness of Carers.

Carers Cookery and Wellbeing Breaks Programme

Portsmouth Carers Service Carers Cookery and Wellbeing Breaks programme gives adult unpaid carers the opportunity to participate in activities which offer a break from caring. The activities offered also support carer health and wellbeing by promoting healthy eating, emotional, and physical and wellbeing activities, opportunities to develop new skills and interests, social engagement, and the chance to get outdoors to enjoy the natural world.

Annual Health Checks for Carers

Carers in Bedfordshire have recruited a Community Nurse to complete health checks for carers who support people with severe mental illnesses (as well as health checks for the people they care for).

Carers Lounge

The Carers Lounge was established to support unpaid carers whilst the person they support is in hospital. It is an information and advice service for carers within St Mary’s Hospital, IW. It is a place where carers can come for emotional support as well as practical advice about their caring role and rights.

Carers don’t always know about their rights as carers and the range of support that exists. In response to this, Action for Carers Surrey have been running Carer Information Fairs for three years, held around Carers Rights Day each November.
